Backup rings prevent seal threading in high pressure applications, and can be used to protect the entire sealing system against overpressure.

Cat® backing rings are designed in conjunction with the elastomeric seal and mating components, and they significantly help increase the life and improve the performance of the sealing system in high pressure applications.
